Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Kodigen Limited ("Kodigen", "we", "us" or "our") handles information when you use our mobile apps, desktop apps, e-commerce platform apps, websites and related services (together, the "Services"). It applies to every Service that links to this page, on every platform we publish on, including the Apple App Store, Google Play and the Shopify App Store.
Some Services have their own section under App specific details. Where a section for a particular Service says something more specific than the general sections, the specific section applies to that Service.
- We collect as little as we can, and only what a Service needs to work.
- We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it for advertising.
- We do not track you across apps or websites owned by other companies.
- Payments are handled by the platform you buy through. We never see your card details.
- You can ask us at any time what we hold about you, and ask us to delete it.
1. Who we are
The Services are published by Kodigen Limited. For the purposes of data protection law, Kodigen Limited is the controller of the personal information described in this policy, except where we process data on behalf of a business customer, in which case that business is the controller and we act as its processor.
2. Information we collect
What we collect depends on the Service and the features you use.
Information you give us
- Content you enter into a Service, such as items you track, notes, tags or settings. In many of our apps this content stays on your device or in your own cloud account and never reaches us. The app specific sections say where it is stored.
- Messages you send us, such as support emails, including your email address and anything you choose to include.
- Account details, only for Services that offer an account, such as your name and email address.
Information collected automatically
- Technical information sent with network requests, such as your IP address, the app version, device type and operating system version. Any server an app connects to receives this, as a normal part of how the internet works.
- Diagnostics. If you have agreed in your device settings to share diagnostics with app developers, the platform (for example Apple or Google) may send us anonymous crash reports and performance data. We use them only to fix problems.
Information from platforms and business customers
- Purchase status from the app store, such as whether a subscription is active and when it renews. We do not receive your payment details.
- Store data for e-commerce apps. When a merchant installs one of our Shopify apps, Shopify gives the app access to the store data the merchant approves, such as shop details, products, orders or customer information. We only request the access an app needs.
3. How we use information
- To provide, maintain and improve the Services and the features you ask for.
- To unlock paid features and confirm that a purchase or subscription is valid.
- To send notifications you have turned on.
- To answer support requests and communicate with you about the Services.
- To keep the Services secure, prevent abuse and fix bugs.
- To meet legal obligations, such as tax and accounting rules.
We do not use your information to build advertising profiles, and we do not make decisions about you that are based solely on automated processing and have legal or similarly significant effects.
4. Legal bases for processing
Where laws such as the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) or the Turkish Personal Data Protection Law No. 6698 (KVKK) apply, we rely on:
- Contract, to provide the Service you have chosen to use or buy.
- Legitimate interests, to keep the Services secure and working well, where those interests are not overridden by your rights.
- Consent, for example for notifications. You can withdraw consent at any time in your device settings.
- Legal obligation, where the law requires us to keep or disclose information.
5. How information is shared
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. We share information only in these cases:
- Platform providers such as Apple, Google and Shopify, which distribute the Services, process payments and, where you use it, store your data in your own cloud account (for example iCloud). Their own privacy policies apply to that processing.
- Third party servers a feature has to contact. Some features only work by sending a request to a public service. The app specific sections list these.
- Service providers who host or support a Service on our behalf, under contracts that require them to protect the information and use it only for that purpose.
- Legal reasons, when required by law, a court order or a valid request from an authority, or to protect the rights, safety or property of our users, Kodigen or others.
- Business transfers, if Kodigen is involved in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets. You will be told if your information becomes subject to a different policy.
6. Purchases and subscriptions
In-app purchases and subscriptions are processed by the store you buy through, such as the Apple App Store, Google Play or Shopify Billing. That store collects and processes your payment details under its own terms and privacy policy. We receive only the information needed to confirm your purchase, such as the product, its status and its renewal or expiry date.
You manage and cancel subscriptions in your store account. On Apple devices this is in Settings, under your name, then Subscriptions. On Android it is in the Google Play app, under Payments and subscriptions. For Shopify apps it is in your Shopify admin.
7. Advertising, analytics and tracking
Unless an app specific section says otherwise, our Services contain no advertising, no third party analytics and no tracking SDKs. We do not track you across apps and websites owned by other companies, and we do not use the advertising identifier of your device. Our websites do not use advertising cookies.
8. Retention and deletion
- Content that a Service stores only on your device, or in your own cloud account, stays there until you delete it, delete the app or remove it from your cloud account. We cannot access or delete it for you, because we never receive it.
- Support emails are kept for as long as needed to help you, and then for up to two years so we can follow up on related requests, unless you ask us to delete them sooner.
- Records of purchases are kept for as long as tax and accounting law requires.
- For Shopify apps, we delete a store's data when the merchant uninstalls the app and Shopify sends the related deletion request, except where the law requires us to keep it.
To ask us to delete information we hold about you, email info@kodigen.com. We will reply within 30 days.
9. Security
We protect information with measures appropriate to its sensitivity, including encryption in transit (HTTPS) wherever the other side supports it, access limited to the people who need it, and relying on the platform's own protections for data stored on your device or in your cloud account. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and will notify you and the authorities of a breach where the law requires it.
10. International transfers
The platforms and service providers we rely on may process information in countries other than your own, including the United States and countries in the European Economic Area. Where data protection law requires it, these transfers are protected by appropriate safeguards, such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
11. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- know what personal information we hold about you and get a copy of it;
- correct inaccurate information;
- have your information deleted;
- restrict or object to certain processing;
- receive your information in a portable format;
- withdraw consent where processing is based on consent;
- not be treated differently for exercising these rights;
- lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
These include rights under the GDPR, the KVKK, and United States state laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the CPRA. We do not sell or share personal information as those laws define it. To use any of these rights, email info@kodigen.com. We may need to confirm your identity before acting on a request.
You can also turn off notifications at any time in your device settings, and stop all processing by an app by uninstalling it.
12. Children
Our Services are not directed at children under 13, or under the minimum age required in your country, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
13. App specific details
Domain Monitor (iPhone, iPad and Mac)
Domain Monitor lets you keep a watchlist of domain names and tells you when they are about to expire or become available. It has no account, no advertising, no analytics and no tracking, and Kodigen does not operate any server that receives your data.
- Your watchlist. The domain names you add, together with the notes and tags you attach and the lookup results the app saves (such as expiry and registration dates, registry statuses, registrar and name servers), are stored on your device. If iCloud is turned on for the app, they are also synced through your private iCloud database by Apple, so they appear on your other devices. Kodigen cannot access your private iCloud data.
- Domain lookups. To check a domain, the app sends the domain name to the public registration data service that is responsible for it. This is usually the registry's RDAP server, listed by the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA), and for a few extensions without RDAP, the registry's WHOIS server. These services are run by the registries, not by Kodigen, and they receive the domain name being checked and, as with any network request, your IP address.
- Reference lists. The app periodically downloads two public lists: the RDAP server directory from IANA (data.iana.org) and the Public Suffix List (publicsuffix.org). These requests contain no information about your watchlist.
- Request details. Lookup and list requests identify the app with its version, the device type (iPhone, iPad or Mac) and the operating system version, so the operators can recognise the traffic. They do not include any identifier for you or your device.
- Notifications. Expiry reminders and availability alerts are created and scheduled on your device. No notification server is involved, and you can turn them off in the app or in your device settings.
- Settings. Display and alert preferences are stored only on the device and are not synced.
- Subscription. Domain Monitor Pro is sold through the Apple App Store. The app asks Apple whether your subscription is active and keeps that answer on the device. Kodigen does not receive your payment details or your Apple Account information.
- Deleting your data. Remove a domain and then delete it permanently from the Trash to delete it from the device and from your iCloud. To remove everything, delete the app and, on any Apple device, remove the app's data under Settings, your name, iCloud, Manage Account Storage (the exact wording depends on your system version).
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when our Services or the law change. We will post the new version on this page and change the "Last updated" date above. If a change materially affects how we use information we already hold, we will tell you through the affected Service or by email where we have it, before the change takes effect.
